New Permanent Residence Pathways for Home Care Workers
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative aimed at supporting home care workers seeking permanent residence in Canada. Starting March 31, 2025, the new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots will replace the previous caregiver programs that recently expired.
This innovative pathway allows eligible home care workers to obtain permanent residence upon arrival in Canada, simplifying the immigration process and addressing the growing demand for skilled caregivers nationwide.
To qualify for this program, applicants must meet specific criteria, including:
- Achieving a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4 in English or French.
- Holding a high school diploma or equivalent credential recognized in Canada.
- Demonstrating relevant work experience in the home care sector.
- Securing a full-time job offer in home care from a Canadian employer.
The program is part of the Federal Economic Pilots initiative, which has been allocated 10,920 immigration spots for 2025. This bold step reflects Canada’s commitment to addressing workforce shortages while offering skilled professionals a pathway to a brighter future.
Stay tuned for more updates as the launch date approaches.
