Temporary Residence

A temporary resident is an immigration status in Canada given by an immigration officer to foreign national who is legally authorized to enter Canada for temporary purposes. As a foreign national you will have a temporary resident status if you have been found to meet the requirements of the legislation to enter and/or remain in Canada as a visitor, student, worker, or temporary resident permit holder. Foreign nationals who are physically in Canada can only hold temporary resident status. Foreign nationals who have been given temporary resident status must abide by the terms and conditions imposed by Canada’s immigration officers throughout the period of their temporary stay.
